Common error codes and solutions for MiAlarm connectivity


Error Code 205

Meaning: Invalid Usercode

Solutions:

  • Verify the user code is correct
  • Check user code has appropriate permissions
  • Try master code if available
  • Ensure user code is enabled in panel

Error Code 204

Meaning: Unit unable to connect with app

Possible Causes:

  • Signal strength issues
  • Faulty serial cable
  • Panel not functioning correctly
  • Network connectivity problems
  • Invalid user code (sometimes shows as 204)

Solutions:

  1. Check GSM signal strength
  2. Test/replace serial cable
  3. Verify panel is powered and functioning
  4. Check network status
  5. Restart both panel and GSM unit
  6. Verify user code validity

Device Busy Error

Meaning: Unit is attempting to change mode

Solutions:

  • Wait 30-60 seconds and retry
  • If persistent, power cycle the GSM unit
  • Check if another user is accessing the system
  • Verify no other apps are connected

General Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Verify Basics

    • Panel powered on
    • Serial cable properly connected
    • GSM unit has power
    • SIM card properly inserted
  2. Check Programming

    • Correct serial port selected
    • FINMON mode enabled (for Orisec)
    • Account code programmed
    • User code valid
  3. Test Connectivity

    • Check GSM signal bars
    • Test with different user code
    • Try tip & ring if serial fails
    • Contact control room for signal verification

When to Contact Support

Contact Finmon support if:

  • Error persists after all troubleshooting
  • New error codes appear
  • Hardware failure suspected
  • Programming assistance needed
